Support Heartspring’s Autism Care Walk 2012 on Wednesday 14th March 2012 by attending the Wichita Thunder game against Rapid City, Heartspring will receive between $3 and $5 per yellow and blue seats sold. Last Thursday (12th January 2012), we attended the Parents of Autistic Children Training Night presented by Lindsay Dutton, Director of School Therapy and Applied Technology at Heartspring which covered AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) for non-verbal and verbal children living with autism.

Heartspring’s annual Lights on the Lake starts on Thursday, November 24th 2011 between 6pm and 10pm and will run through to Christmas day. Lights on the Lake will be open Thursday through Sunday from November 24th through December 11th and will run every night from the 15th December to the 25th December!

Remember to stop by the Hospitality Center to meet Santa, listen to live music, shop, and enjoy refreshments. Hospitality Center will be open every evening except the 24th and 25th December. All Heartspring ask is for you to make a small donation to help support ongoing therapies for children who’s parents don’t have the financial resources to pay full price for therapies, literally every penny counts!

Yesterday, Saturday 22nd October, my son, daughter, wife and I went to the Heartspring Fall Festival at the Conference Center and had a good time. They had an inflatable basketball court, pumpkin slingshot, pumpkin 10 pin bowling, face painting, fishing game, balloon animal making and pumpkin decorating. Sadly my autistic son didn’t want to participate in face painting or pumpkin decoration.

Heartspring have a monthly talk about autism, it’s completely free, all that you are required to do is Email parenttrainingprogram@heartspring.org with the number of people attending and any question you’d like addressed! The next event is on Thursday November 10th 2011 at 6pm and will finish at approximately 7:30pm at the Heartspring Conference Center, 8700 E. 29th Street North, Wichita, KS 67226.

Sadly this event has been cancelled due to lack of attendance.
